Abel Tackles DSK
Today over breakfast I heard the Bloomberg Radio morning host discuss briefly the fact that New York's own legendary director of independent films Abel Ferrara was in the process of making a movie based on the Dominique Strauss Kahn (DSK) 'events' that took hold of the media channels for weeks this past May 2011.
It's exciting to watch Abel (watch the video) and the screen writer Christ Zois discuss their ideas for the project here last week at the studio. The videos
are the start of the documentation of the project that will star Gerard Depardieu and Isabelle Adjani. It will consist of what's sure to be intriguing dialogue between the characters as they delve into the private moments that DSK and his wife Anne Sinclair shared in their
rented Tribeca townhouse and other private locations while he was navigating the courts and the rape charges filed against him. This is a story that Abel will have the guts to tell
and will pull no punches. He never does and never will.
Models WebTV shares the same studio space as Film Annex and each day we get to experience new characters that
come for meetings to promote their film work on the platform (from fiction to stark reality), discuss future productions (in-house, or not),
and mainly to understand the power that is the reach of the Film Annex platform and the Web TV concept, typically over an espresso.
Abel, who I have had the immense pleasure of meeting a few years ago, and admire greatly, and whose movie 'Bad Lieutenant' is one of my
all time favorites has utilized the power of the internet and it's unrivaled ability for promotion to audiences that more and more gravitate to the internet for their entertainment needs. Abel's personal website is a perfect example of how to utilize short and engaging clips to educate and entertain your fans and as well be compensated for your efforts. It's makes both great business and artistic sense, concepts that are sometimes at a disconnect with each other and that Film Annex has had amazing success in bringing together for content providers and their use of Web TV's to reach a huge audience.
We'll look forward to updates from Abel on his Web TV channel and see what's in store
for production of the DSK movie slated to start this summer.
